Wine & Dine Downtown


Newark's restaurants will host wineries from around the world in Wine and Dine Downtown, a culinary and wine extravaganza, from 4-9 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

Participating restaurants will be paired with a winery to showcase at least three different wines. Restaurant-winery pairings will offer a $2 per 2-ounce taste of wine, and premium tastings may also be available at varying prices.

Those who attend can walk Main Street stretching on to Elkton Road to visit their favorite restaurants or try a new one while they travel the wine tasting trail. The event also will offer strolling entertainment.

Arts and Antiques Festival


Hagley Museum; Greenville, Delaware

Over 70 well-known artists from the Brandywine Valley area will be exhibiting and selling original art. Browse this exceptional collection of sculpture, procelain, jewelry, art and a choice selection of furniture.

Footloose!


Spend an evening at the New Candlelight Dinner Theater in Arden, Delaware.

Footloose begins its run this Saturday the 21st, with 36 performances scheduled between now and May 30th.

Tickets are $49 per person and includes a buffet dinner, beverages and of course, the show! Doors for evening performance open at 6:00pm. The buffet is served from 6-7:30pm followed by the show at 8:00pm. Matinee performances are also available.

Live Music at Delaware Park

Delaware Park Racetrack & Slots is located just 5 minutes from our Estate.

Take a break from the slots this weekend and stop by their HOPS bar. Decorated in Samuel Adams memorabilia, this inviting bar area offers a vast selection of draft and bottled beers, as well as a full bar selection. Of course, the featured drink is Samuel Adams quality ale.

Live music on tap includes the Red Alert Band (R&B, Motown) on Friday, March 13th, and The Continentals (Big Band Sound) from 3:00-6:00pm on Saturday, March 14th, and Tom Larsen (Blues Band) later that same evening.

Backyard Monsters


Visit the Delaware Museum of Natural History where giant robotic bugs are sure to fascinate the whole family!

Experience life from a bug's eye view with the special Backyard Monsters: The World of Insects exhibit. Hands-on activity stations encourage interactive learning about creepy-crawlies and their antics.

The Natural History Museum is located across the street from Winterthur Museum & Gardens, which offers an interative outdoor Enchanted Woods for kids to explore.

Delaware Art Museum - March Events


Art on the Town, this Friday, March 6

The Delaware Art Museum joins other cultural institutions in Wilmington for "Art on the Town" with extended hours and free admission during the first Friday of each month. This Friday's activities include "Unlacing the Victorian Woman" and a preview for "The Possibilities of Pause" exhibit.

"An Afternoon with Jane Austen", Saturday, March 14th
2:00pm; $12.00 for members, $20.00 for non-members


A perfect way to celebrate women's history month, this program features performances of Jane Austen's favorite pieces of music (which she wrote about in her notebooks) as well as readings from her novels. With Julianne Baird, soprano; Karen Flint, harpsichord; and Edward Mauger, narrator.

Make sure to stop by the delART Cafe for a light lunch or som gourmet coffee. Seating in the Cafe provides a bright and airy view of the Copeland Sculpture Garden.

This week's menu of of delicious and affordable dinner options in the award-winning Brasserie Grille comes to us from Executive Chef James Lauser.

The menu will be available from Tuesday, March 3rd through Tuesday, March 10th and costs just $30.00 per person.

Starters (choice of): Shallow Poached Little Neck Clams or Steamed Mussels. Both are being served with a White Wine, Old Bay Garlic Butter Sauce

Entrees (choice of): Blackened Louisiana Catfish served with Popcorn Shrimp in a Cajun Scallion Cream Sauce or a Mixed Grill (4oz Filet, Veal Scaloppini & Double Lamb Chop) served with a Wild Mushroom, Tomato and Garlic Demi Glace

Barrels on the Brandywine

The wineries of the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail will be showing off their brand new 2008 vintage during the month of March. On each Saturday & Sunday, these local wine growers and vintners will open their cellars and tasting rooms for barrel tastings, tours, music, art shows, food, and other special events.

Visitors may purchase a BOB Wine Trail Passport (for $25) from any of the Wine Trail members, which includes a tasting at each winery and a Wine Trail logo glass.
